Use of the SENDAI free Wi-Fi

Can I view the VR files with SENDAI free Wi-Fi?
You can use SENDAI free Wi-Fi on-site for the “VR image of Sendai’s townscape in the feudal era” at the Site of Sendai Castle and the “Mutsu Kokubunji Temple Ruins.” For other VR files, please download the image in advance at the following locations and then view it at their specific sites.

How can I reach the location of the VR experience spots?
Recommended ways to access are as follows:

Do I need a special app to see VR files? Is it free to use?
You can view it in your web browser, so no special app is needed. Also, all of the content on this website is available free of charge. (Any necessary data charges will be the responsibility of the user.)
A message saying, "VR cannot be viewed" keeps appearing.
Are you accessing the website from the VR experience spot? Does your device support VR viewing?

Have you allowed the website to use your device’s location information?
A message saying "use of location information" appeared. Do I need to sign any kind of service contract?
There is no need to sign a new contract for a special service, although approval for both the browser and the website to use your device’s location information is necessary.
The orientation of the VR seems to be incorrect.
The VR system acquires the compass information of your device and displays images in the proximity of the actual direction it is facing. If significant deviation appears, pressing the browser’s reload button and/or moving your device in the outline of a figure eight prior to reloading the browser may help correcting the VR display.
How much mobile data is used when viewing VR?
One VR file is about approximately 10 MB.
Can I save the VR data?
Once you view the VR data, the viewing history will be saved and become available for viewing from anywhere. However, browsing history information may not be available for some reason. Click here for details
The program occasionally shuts down when viewing a VR.
This may be due to overloading on the device, since the operation of the VR file is based on advanced programming that requires high processing capability. Try viewing after reducing the load on your device as much as possible by shutting down other applications.

Supported devices

Is VR compatible on any type of smartphone?
It can be viewed on smartphones and tablets that can use GPS, location information, gyro sensor and compass.
Does it support usage on devices other than than a smartphone, i.e., mobile phone, PC or PHS?
The VR system is not compatible on devices other than smartphones and tablets.

Stamp rally

What is a stamp rally?
When you view the VR at each VR experience spot, a picture of the Date Bushotai will be displayed based on your browsing history. A completion bonus image will be displayed after you view all seven VR files (both of the VR files titled “Sendai Townscape” and “Sendai Castle Ohiroma” in the feudal era, must be viewed at the Site of Sendai Castle).
Date Bushotai pictures do not appear in the Stamp Rally screen. Is there a reason?
